The research aims to analyze the Agrobiodiversity Zone of the Cuyocuyo Terraces (Andenes de Cuyocuyo) as a conservation strategy. The qualitative method was used, and through intentional non-probability sampling, eight to ten participants were selected from six communities, including informants linked to the process of the zone's creation and development. Semi-structured interviews, in-depth interviews, and focus groups were applied to these stakeholders. It was found that, despite the formal recognition of an agrobiodiversity zone with specific regulations, it does not guarantee its conservation, nor does it generate immediate binding effects if it is not articulated with the expectations, priorities, and organizational forms of the local communities. The results show that, although favorable intentions exist on the part of external agents, these have not been translated into implementation or the scaling up of actions in accordance with the regulations, due to the lack of a clear management plan and limitations in community participation.
